Website page  ‘About me’

Objective: To write the About Me page for my own website. It had to contain meaningful information about myself and be written in my own style. It also needed to be interesting and engaging for the reader.

Insight: I chose to focus on one of my favourite things, the ocean. I wanted to show the reader who I am, what I do, and what I love in a fun and enticing way. The idea of rhyming and creating a metaphor was to intrigue the reader into wanting more, and leave them with their own interpretation. I wanted to allow the reader to picture me in my lifestyle, empathise, and come with me on my journey.
Selling ‘the Internet to the 1800’s’

Objective: To write an ad selling the Internet to people from the 1800’s. It needed to attract and relate to the audience by using appropriate tone of voice.

Insight: From my research and prior knowledge, I realised upper class women were often left at home, with their main concern being the upkeep of their status, along with battling the high expectations for their appearance. I saw these women may benefit from a way to easily access the latest tips and trends, as well as a way to limit their isolation.
Observation ‘Tales of a table’

Objective: To watch people and write a story based on something that I saw. Whether is was describing the people; what they look like, what they’re wearing, how they behave or describing the events, it needed to be about a moment in time.

Insight: Whilst sitting at the supermarket, a lady came in who was very out of the ordinary. Her attire and mannerisms were very erratic and unexpected. She took a very long time to make decisions and I waited for her to finish her shop for nearly an hour in total. She reminded me of a children’s story book character as she was nothing I had seen before, and almost make believe- therefore I chose to represent her in a poem like structure to express her repetitive and almost crazy personality.

Script ‘the birth of Jesus’
Objective: To write a thirty second script for the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. It needed to re-invent the story, and excite the director.
Insight: From my research, I found that some children described Jesus to have two fathers, due to Joseph being Mary’s partner, and God the creator of life. Taking this on board, I decided to create a modern story with Mary as the surrogate for two gay men wanting a child. I used various ideas from the original story, such as the order of events, and using the names Joe for Joseph, Lloyd for The Lord, and Mary for Mary. These aspects allude to the original story while giving it a modern twist. This script would be a campaign for Fertility Associates New Zealand and be in three parts, each thirty seconds long to lead onto the next segment.
Poem written for Mr Foureyes explaining their company and the glasses cleaning cloth's design in a fun and engaging manner.
